Regular Season Round 18: Qingdao E. - Liaoning H. 92-86

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Liaoning Hunters (8-9) were defeated on the road by ninth ranked Qingdao Double Star (8-9) 92-86 on Friday. Liaoning Hunters were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of Qingdao Double Star, which allowed them to win the game. Liaoning Hunters were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Yan Lu (200-81) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Qingdao Double Star's coach Weili Wang allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Tian-ju He (203-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and center Dejun Han (215-89) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Qingdao Double Star moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Liaoning. Liaoning Hunters lost third consecutive game. Qingdao Double Star will face Jilin Tigers (#15) in Changchun in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
