An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Belfast. First ranked UL Eagles faced 4th ranked Belfast Star. Guests from Limerick (11-2) smashed host Belfast Star (5-7) 91-55. They outrebounded Belfast Star 33-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for UL Eagles especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Belfast Star's players. American power forward Cameron Mitchell (201-88, college: Willamette, agency: N.E.T.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds. American-Welsh guard Matthew Hall (186-75, college: Earlham) contributed with 23 points and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Clayton Longmire (201-84, college: St.Rose (NY)) replied with 16 points and his fellow American import guard Matthew Jackson (191-90, college: Humboldt St.) added 13 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Belfast Star. Belfast Star's coach Danny Fulton gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. UL Eagles have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-2 record, which they share with Killester. Belfast Star at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. UL Eagles will play against Neptune (#3) in Cork in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Belfast Star will play on the road against the league's second-placed UCC Demons in Cork and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
