Regular Season Round 31: Komarno - Handlova 72-80

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Komarno (14-11) against fourth ranked Handlova (14-11) on Saturday night. Host Komarno was defeated by Handlova in a tough game in Komarno 72-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Komarno. It looked good early as Komarno took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Handlova had a 24-10 second period charge getting the lead and Komarno was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-80. Handlova made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard Juraj Gavlak (185-79) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. At the losing side American guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: Warren Sports International) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and the other American import center Kareem Johnson (205-80, college: Cincinnati) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Komarno players scored in double figures. Komarno's coach Juraj Suja rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Handlova have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Komarno. Handlova will play against bottom-ranked Prievidza (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Komarno will play against SKP Banska Bystrica (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
