A very close game took place in Souffel. between Angers BC 49 and Souffelweyersheim. Third ranked Angers BC 49 (13-6) got a very close victory on the road over 10th ranked Souffelweyersheim (9-10). Angers BC 49 managed to escape with a 3-point win 71-68 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Damien Griffin (203-80, college: Mountain St., agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Tony Ramphort (176-82) accounted for 18 points for the winning side. Four Angers BC 49 players scored in double figures. Serbian forward Jovan Stefanov (205-83, college: Ill.-Chicago) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Jeremy Tschamber (192-84) added 14 points respectively for Souffelweyersheim in the defeat. Souffelweyersheim's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Angers BC 49. They maintain third place with 13-6 record having just three points less than leader Bordeaux. Newly promoted Souffelweyersheim dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Angers BC 49 will meet at home Get Vosges (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Souffelweyersheim will play against Orchesien BC (#9) in Orchies and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
