Very expected game when 15th ranked Near East (3-8) lost to tenth ranked Ermis Lagkada (5-6) in Lagadas 64-71 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ermis Lagkada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Center Giorgos Anagnostopoulos (207-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Alexandros Panagiotopoulos (202-80, agency: FCM) contributed with 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Ermis Lagkada's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Nikos Tsoutsos (203-82) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Filippos Moschovitis (190-78) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Near East. Ermis Lagkada moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Olimpiada and AEK/Argous. Near East lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Ermis Lagkada will face higher ranked AGOR (#4) in Rethymno in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Near East will play on the road against Koroivos (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
