No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lavrio (8-3) beat at home 14th ranked Koroivos (3-8) 100-82 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Lavrio. Koroivos managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lavrio dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Koroivos' 38 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Lavrio forced 20 Koroivos turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Koroivos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Nikos Psileas (200-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Giannis Kakiouzis (205-78) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Serbian forward Predrag Kosanovic (203-76, agency: BeoExcell) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Dimitrios Apostolopoulos (188-78) added 11 points and 8 assists in the effort for Koroivos. Five Lavrio and four Koroivos players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Lavrio. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Arkadikos. Koroivos lost their fourth game in a row. Koroivos at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fifteenth position with eight games lost. Lavrio will face Ikaroi Serron (#5) in Serres in the next round. Koroivos will play at home against Near East (#16) in Kesariani and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
