Regular Season Round 18: Real Madrid - Asefa Estudian. 82-61
Date: January 22, 2011
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Madrid: Real Madrid (#2) and Asefa Estudiantes (#14). Real Madrid (15-3) smashed visiting Asefa Estudiantes (7-11) by 21 points 82-61. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Asefa Estudiantes managed to win third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Croatian center Ante Tomic (217-87) who led his team to a victory with 13 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Sergio Llull (190-87) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American forward Nik Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Priority Sports) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Italian-Argentinian guard Pancho Jasen (199-78) added 11 points in the effort for Asefa Estudiantes. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Regal Barca. Asefa Estudiantes at the other side dropped to the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Real Madrid's next round opponent will be Assignia Manresa (#15) on the road which should be another easy win for them. Asefa Estudiantes will play against Blancos de Rueda in Valladolid.
