Regular Season Round 12: Aris - Ikaros Kalitheas 65-60

The most important game in the last round took place in Thessaloniki between third ranked Esperides (8-4) and sixth ranked Aris (7-5) on Sunday night. Esperides was defeated by Aris in a tough game on the road 60-65. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-13. But Esperides won second period 20-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Stefany Skrba (188-87, college: Michigan) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Anna Spiridopoulou (182-88) chipped in 21 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian center Lidia Milkova (192-70) who recorded 26 points and forward Marianna Axiopoulou (180-84) added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Aris moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Apollon and Panathinaikos. Esperides at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Panionios. Aris is looking forward to face FEA Neas (#8) in Halkidon in the next round. Esperides will play at home against Panionios (#4) in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
