Second Stage Round 10: Penarol - Obras 77-70

The most important game in the last round took place in Mar del Plata between third ranked Obras (6-4) and fifth ranked Penarol (6-2) on Sunday night. Obras was defeated by Penarol in a tough game on the road 70-77. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Obras. International forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Nicolas Lauria (202-88) chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward William McFarlan (201-76, college: St.Thomas Aquinas, agency: Dream Team Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Five Penarol and four Obras players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Obras at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Libertad S. and Quimsa. Penarol are looking forward to face Estudiantes (#15) in Bahia Blanca in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Obras will play at home against Quimsa (#6) in Santiado Estero and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
