Very expected game when 10th ranked Maccabi Haifa (3-10) lost to second ranked Hapoel J-M (10-5) in Jerusalem 90-95 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 36-21 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Hapoel J-M shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Yogev Ohayon (189-87, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists. American guard Dion Dowell (198-85, college: Houston) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Hapoel J-M's coach Oded Katash used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. International forward Elishay Kadir (202-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) came up with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized American guard Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) added 21 points respectively for Maccabi Haifa in the defeat. Five Hapoel J-M and four Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Hapoel J-M. They maintain second place with 10-5 record having four points less than leader Maccabi T-A. Maccabi Haifa lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Hapoel J-M will meet Maccabi Rishon (#6) in the next round. Maccabi Haifa will play against Hapoel Holon (#7) and hope to secure a win.
