Regular Season Round 8: Zrinjski HT - Djuro Djakovic 79-65

Bottom-ranked Croatian Svjetlost (0-7) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their seventh consecutive match to third ranked Bosnian Zrinjski HT (4-2) 79-65. The game was mostly controlled by Zrinjski HT. Svjetlost was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Svjetlost 45-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (203-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists. Montenegrin guard Lazar Simonovic (185-82) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Filip Vukicevic (203-88) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Igor Maric (196-85) added 11 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Svjetlost. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Zrinjski HT moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Beograd. Svjetlost at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Zrinjski HT's next round opponent will be OKK Beograd (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. Svjetlost will play against Ulcijn and hopes to get finally their first victory.
