Regular Season Round 16: Tigers - Kings 67-85

Date: January 26, 2011
Bottom-ranked Kings managed to get the second consecutive victory on Wednesday night. This time they won against eighth-ranked Melbourne Tigers 85-67. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference suggests that Kings is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Kings led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international center Julian Khazzouh (211-86) fired 29 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Graeme Dann (204-83) chipped in 12 points and 8 assists. Four Kings players scored in double figures. Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) produced 9 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international power forward Matthew Burston (210-82) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kings maintains ninth position with 3-15 record. Loser Melbourne Tigers keep the eighth place with 12 games lost. Kings will meet at home higher ranked Adelaide 36ers (#6) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Melbourne Tigers will play against Wollongong Hawks in Gwynneville and hope to secure a win.
