We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Taiyuan where 13th ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (6-12) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Foshan (7-12) 108-104 on Wednesday. Foshan made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Shanxi Zhongyu turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Nigerian-British power forward Olumide Oyedeji (208-81) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. American forward Leon Rodgers (199-80, college: N.Illinois) produced 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Shawn Taggart (207-85, college: Memphis) added 23 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Foshan and five Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. Shanxi Zhongyu's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Foshan moved-up to thirteenth place. Loser Shanxi Zhongyu dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Foshan will meet bottom-ranked TianJin Rongcheng (#17) in the next round. Shanxi Zhongyu will have a break next round.
