We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Changchun where 15th ranked Jilin Tigers (6-13) were defeated by sixteenth ranked Fujian SBS XunXin (5-14) 98-93 on Wednesday. Jilin Tigers were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 30-24 charge of Fujian SBS XunXin, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds. Swingman Andre Emmett (196-82, college: Texas Tech) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Fujian SBS XunXin players scored in double figures. Fujian SBS XunXin's coach Casey Owens used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Swingman Tim Pickett (193-81, college: Florida St.) produced 37 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field) and power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) added 25 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Fujian SBS XunXin maintains sixteenth position with 5-14 record. Loser Jilin Tigers keep the fifteenth place with 13 games lost. Fujian SBS XunXin will meet higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jilin Tigers will play against Guandong Tigers (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
