Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Beijing Ducks (11-8) beat on the road 9th ranked Qingdao Double Star (8-11) 102-97 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 102-97. Beijing Ducks made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Strangely Qingdao Double Star outrebounded Beijing Ducks 40-27 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Jordanian forward Zaid Abbaas (203-83) who scored 28 points (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). American power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. Four Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi, agency: Gross Zeev ISA) produced a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Qingdao Double Star's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Beijing Ducks moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bayi and Zhejiang G.L. Loser Qingdao Double Star keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Beijing Ducks will meet at home Fujian SBS XunXin (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Qingdao Double Star will play against the league's leader Xinjiang Flying Tige (#1) in Urumqi and hope to secure a win.
