The most exciting game of round 1 in the LNBP took place in Cancun. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Fuerza Regia (27-9) to first ranked Pioneros (27-9) 95-93 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 20-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Pioneros shot 67.3 percent from the field. Pioneros had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Pioneros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) produced 25 points and 4 steals and forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros maintains first place with 27-9 record, which they share with defeated Fuerza Regia. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
