The game in Jelgava supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Liepaja (12-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Zemgale (6-9). Liepaja smashed Zemgale 86-60 on Friday. The game without a history. Liepaja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Pierce Caldwell (191-88, college: Incarnate World) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 7 rebounds and center Martins Meiers (202-91) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side swingman Salvis Metra (194-84) responded with 14 points and the former international guard Ilmars Bergmanis (184-81) scored 12 points. Four Zemgale players scored in double figures. Zemgale's coach Varis Krumins gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Liepaja maintains second position with 12-5 record having just -4 points less than leader Ventspils. Zemgale lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Liepaja will meet bottom-ranked Latvijas Universitate (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Zemgale will have a break next round.
