Regular Season Round 16: Crocodiles - Blaze 71-62

Rather expected game in Wulguru where 7th ranked Gold Coast Blaze (8-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Townsville Crocodiles (11-8) 71-62 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-16. But Gold Coast Blaze won second period 14-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Townsville Crocodiles won last quarter 24-17. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Luke Schenscher (216-82, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Peter Crawford (193-79) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Townsville Crocodiles' coach Trevor Gleeson used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American power forward Ira Clark (203-75, college: Texas) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Adam Gibson (188-86) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Townsville Crocodiles maintains fourth position with 11-8 record. Loser Gold Coast Blaze keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Townsville Crocodiles will have a break next round. Gold Coast Blaze will play on the road against the league's second-placed Perth Wildcats (#2).
