Regular Season Round 15: KFI - Snaefell 89-76

Top ranked Snaefell (12-3) recorded its third loss in Reykjavik on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by twelfth ranked KFI (3-12) 89-76. The game was mostly controlled by KFI. Snaefell managed to win second period 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. KFI forced 19 Snaefell turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Craig Schoen (178-83, college: Georgetown, KY) who scored 31 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). British guard Carl Josey (196-86, college: VMI) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Josey is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Jon Olafur Jonsson (199-81) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Sean Burton (175-86, college: Ithaca) added 11 points and 6 assists respectively. Snaefell's coach Ingi Thor Steinthorsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted KFI maintains twelfth place with 3-12 record. Defending champion Snaefell still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Grindavik. KFI are looking forward to face higher ranked Stjarnan (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Snaefell will play against Tindastoll (#6) in Sauoarkrokur and is hoping to win this game.
