Seventeenth-ranked TianJin Rongcheng (3-16) made lots of trouble for thirteenth ranked Foshan (8-12) in Tianjin. The visitors from Foshan managed to secure only one-point victory 100-99. However their fans expected much easier game. TianJin Rongcheng was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 30-21 charge of Foshan, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American guard Stephon Marbury (187-77, college: Georgia Tech) nailed 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winning side and Nigerian-British power forward Olumide Oyedeji (208-81) accounted for 19 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). American power forward Lee Benson (208-73, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Paris Global Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (207-81, college: Rutgers) added 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals respectively for TianJin Rongcheng in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. TianJin Rongcheng's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Foshan moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Qingdao DS and Shanghai. TianJin Rongcheng lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Foshan will have a break next round. TianJin Rongcheng will play on the road against the league's second-placed DongGuan Leopards (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
