There was no surprise in Vitoria where 10th ranked Unicaja Malaga (9-10) was edged by fifth ranked Caja Laboral (12-7) 76-74 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 16-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. International swingman Fernando San Emeterio (198-84) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Brazilian-Italian guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, agency: Edge Sports) chipped in 16 points. American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky, agency: SportsTalent) produced 17 points and 9 rebounds and British forward Joel Freeland (208-87) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Unicaja Malaga players scored in double figures. Unicaja Malaga's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Valencia and Valladolid. Loser Unicaja Malaga dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. Caja Laboral will face Gran Canaria 2014 (#9) in Las Palmas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Unicaja Malaga will play at home against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
