Bottom-ranked Amarillida is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 13th consecutive match to tenth ranked Proteas (3-10) 64-32 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Proteas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Amarillida to just 5 points in first quarter and to 12 points in first half. Proteas held Amarillida to an opponent 20.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Proteas forced 20 Amarillida turnovers. It was a very good performance for German power forward Linda Frohlich (188-79, college: UNLV, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Peppi Valeta (177-77) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vagelitsa Vamvaka (179) answered with 8 points and 12 rebounds and guard Katerina Spathari (172-81) added 9 points in the effort for Amarillida. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Proteas maintains tenth place with 3-10 record. Amarillida lost their thirteenth game in a row. Amarillida at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Proteas will face higher ranked DAS Ano Liosa (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Amarillida will play against Panathinaikos (#5) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.
