Regular Season Round 25: Tochigi Brex - Hokkaido L. 86-89

Important game to mention about took place in Tochigi. Eighth ranked Hokkaido (8-17) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (8-17) 89-86 in the fight for the seventh place. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-22. But Tochigi Brex won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Jai Lewis (201-83, college: George Mason, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Takehiko Orimo (190-70) accounted for 25 points. International guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) came up with 25 points and 5 rebounds and American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Tochigi Brex in the defeat. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Tochigi Brex's coach Bruce Palmer tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Hokkaido moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Tochigi Brex. Tochigi Brex lost seventh consecutive game. Hokkaido will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tochigi Brex will play again at home against Hokkaido (#7) in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
