Seventh-ranked Shimane Magic (11-16) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (25-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Mikawa managed to secure only ten-point victory 92-82. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Shimane Magic. Shimane Magic was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 21-12 charge of Hamamatsu Phoenix, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 18-8. Hamamatsu Phoenix forced 19 Shimane Magic turnovers and had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St., agency: ACMT) who helped to win the game recording 30 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. American forward Reggie Golson (201-81, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Court Side) replied with 28 points and 8 rebounds and American-Mexican guard Forrest Fisher (193-84, agency: GOTathletes) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Shimane Magic. Hamamatsu Phoenix have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 25-2 record. Shimane Magic at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Saitama Bron.. Hamamatsu Phoenix will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Shimane Magic will play again at home against the league's leader Hamamatsu Phoenix (#1) in Mikawa and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
