D1 top team - Okapi Aalstar (13-2) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Belgacom Liege (5-9) 79-70. Belgacom Liege trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 16-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 70-79 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Christopher Copeland (203-84, college: Colorado, agency: 540 Sports) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Anthony Hilliard (193-86, college: Elizabeth City) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Taylor Griffin (201-86, college: Oklahoma) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Geoffrey Hockins (188-88) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Okapi Aalstar have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 13-2 record. Loser Belgacom Liege keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Leuven. Okapi Aalstar will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Belgacom Liege will play against Dexia Mons-Hainaut (#3) in Quaregnon and hope to secure a win.
