Regular Season Round 12: Periko/Arhelaos - AEK/Argous 73-69

An interesting game took place in Perikos where higher ranked AEK/Argous (5-7) was upset on the court of fourteenth ranked Periko/Arhelaos (5-8) 73-69. It looked good early as AEK/Argous took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Periko/Arhelaos had a 20-12 second period charge getting the lead and AEK/Argous was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-73. Periko/Arhelaos made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Strangely AEK/Argous outrebounded Periko/Arhelaos 41-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for guard Kostas Behlivanis (180-74, agency: FCM) who led his team to a victory with 20 points. Forward Giannis Papachristos (194-80) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Periko/Arhelaos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Power forward Andronikos Gizogiannis (200-83, agency: FCM) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds and guard Giorgos Kopsaftis (192-84) added 17 points in the effort for AEK/Argous. Periko/Arhelaos moved-up to eleventh place. AEK/Argous at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Periko/Arhelaos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Panelefsiniakos (#3) in Eleusina and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
