Regular Season Round 16: Blaze - Kings 94-91

Ninth-ranked Kings (3-15) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Gold Coast Blaze (8-11) in Broadbeach on Sunday. Gold Coast Blaze managed to secure only three-point victory 94-91. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kings. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kings won third quarter 28-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Gold Coast Blaze won last quarter 25-24. They made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Kings were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Ira Clark (203-75, college: Texas) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) who added 18 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international center Julian Khazzouh (211-86) responded with 19 points and American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) scored 17 points. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Gold Coast Blaze maintains seventh position with 8-11 record. Loser Kings stay at the bottom place with 15 games lost. Gold Coast Blaze will face league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Kings will play against Adelaide 36ers (#6) in Findon.
