The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Shiga Lakestars as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Shiga Lakestars defeated 5th ranked Saitama Broncos at home 97-91. Saitama Broncos trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 31-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 91-97 at the end of the game. Shiga Lakestars had a 39-28 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Lamar Rice (203-82, college: Georgetown, KY) stepped up and scored 25 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import guard Mikey Marshall (196-81, college: Texas Tech, agency: Warren Sports International) chipped in 17 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Marshall is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shiga Lakestars players scored in double figures. Shiga Lakestars' coach Haruyuki Ishibashi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Kenny Satterfield (188-81, college: Cincinnati) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fairleigh Dickinson) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Saitama Broncos at the other side keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. They share the position with Shimane. Saitama Broncos will play next round against Toyama Grouses trying to get back on the winning streak. Shiga Lakestars will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Shimane Magic at home.
