Second Stage Round 1: Snaefell - Fjolnir 76-72

No shocking result in a game in Stykkisholmur where fifth ranked Snaefell (7-8) defeated 7th ranked Fjolnir (3-12) 76-72. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-14. But Fjolnir won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Snaefell forced 27 Fjolnir turnovers. It was a good game for who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Berglind Gunnarsdottir (175-93) contributed with 25 points for the winners. American guard Natasha Harris (177-86, college: Boise St.) answered with 37 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals and Latvian center Inga Buzoka (191-81, college: Missouri Western) added 10 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocks in the effort for Fjolnir. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Snaefell. They moved-up to fourth place. Newly promoted Fjolnir keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Grindavik. Snaefell will play against bottom-ranked Grindavik (#8) on the road in the next round. Fjolnir will play against Njardvik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
