Regular Season Round 31: Kataja - Honka Espoo 80-86

The game between third ranked Joensuun Kataja (20-11) and fifth ranked Espoo Honka (18-12) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Joensuun Kataja was defeated by Espoo Honka in a tough game in Joensuu 80-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Joensuun Kataja. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-13. But Joensuun Kataja won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Espoo Honka made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Joensuun Kataja helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) fired 33 points (!!!) and 7 assists for the winners. His fellow American import forward Corey Belser (200-82, college: San Diego) chipped in 8 points and 11 rebounds. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tennessee-Martin, agency: Court Side) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Juha Sten (191-83) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Espoo Honka maintains fifth place with 18-12 record. Joensuun Kataja at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Espoo Honka are looking forward to face Salon Vilpas (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Joensuun Kataja will play against LrNMKY (#11) in Lappeenranta and is hoping to win this game.
