Bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they won against fourth-ranked Maccabi Ashdod 95-81. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi Ashdod managed to win third quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Haifa looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Maccabi Ashdod's players. American guard Germaine Jackson (195-76, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Interperformances) fired 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Maccabi Haifa's coach Ami Nawi used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international guard Meir Tapiro (194-75, agency: Avi Zilberman) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and American swingman Josh Carter (201-88, college: Texas A&M) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa (4-11) moved-up to ninth place. Maccabi Ashdod lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Maccabi Haifa will meet higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
