Very expected game when 9th ranked Vomero Napoli (4-11) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Liomatic Umbertide (11-4) 70-56 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-56. Liomatic Umbertide dominated on the defensive end, holding Vomero Napoli to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Vomero Napoli's 34. They outrebounded Vomero Napoli 35-23 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international forward Simona Ballardini (181-81) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Tiffany Stansbury (191-83, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 9 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (193-85, college: Hofstra) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and Serbian guard Milica Micovic (182-84, agency: Players Group) added 11 points respectively. Liomatic Umbertide moved-up to third place. Vomero Napoli lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Liomatic Umbertide will meet at home Basket Parma (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vomero Napoli will play against Pool Comense in Como and hope to secure a win.
