There was an upset when higher ranked Kyoto Hannaryz (14-14) was edged on the road by ninth ranked Takamatsu FA (8-20) 73-72 on Sunday. Kyoto Hannaryz cut a 15-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. American center Terrance Farley (208-85, college: Louisville) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Masaaki Suzuki (176) chipped in 18 points. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 9 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf (186-69, college: LSU) scored 21 points. Kyoto Hannaryz's coach Ano Kazuhito rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Takamatsu FA moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Miyazaki. Loser Kyoto Hannaryz keeps the fifth position with 14 games lost. Takamatsu FA will face higher ranked Niigata Albirex (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kyoto Hannaryz will play against Tokyo Apache and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
