Korisliiga top team - Tampereen Pyrinto (26-7) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Porvoon Tarmo (4-28) 94-82. The game was mostly controlled by Tampereen Pyrinto. Porvoon Tarmo managed to win third quarter 27-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tampereen Pyrinto made 30-of-34 free shots (88.2 percent) during the game, while Porvoon Tarmo only scored fourteen points from the stripe. American players dominated also this game. The winners were led by forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) who scored that evening 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Kenneth Lowe (192-80, college: Purdue, agency: Warren Sports International) supported him with 26 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). Even a double-double of 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) did not help to save the game for Porvoon Tarmo. Guard Aubrey Conerly (182-83, college: Jacksonville) added 18 points and 4 steals for the hosts. Four Tampereen Pyrinto and five Porvoon Tarmo players scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 26-7 record. Porvoon Tarmo lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted Porvoon Tarmo stay dead last with 28 lost games. Tampereen Pyrinto will meet at home Namika Lahti (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Porvoon Tarmo will play against Kauhajoen Karhu (#9) in Kauhajoki and hope to secure a win.
