Regular Season Round 16: KR - Keflavik 99-85

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Keflavik (11-5) against fourth ranked KR (12-4) on Thursday night. Visiting Keflavik was defeated by KR in Reykjavik 99-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Keflavik. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Keflavik was better in second period 30-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Keflavik to just 7 points in third quarter. KR dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Keflavik's 40. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Marcus Walker (186-86, college: Colorado St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and the former international forward Hreggviaur Magnusson (198-82) who added 19 points during the contest. Five KR players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Thomas Sanders (191-85, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Duran International) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Axel Vilhjalmsson (188-88) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KR have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Grindavik. Keflavik at the other side dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. KR will play against Njardvik (#9) in Njardvik in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Keflavik will play at home against Fjolnir (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
