Regular Season Round 21: ROW Rybnik - Widzew 74-64

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Utex Row (4-16) beat 9th ranked Widzew (7-13) in Rybnik 74-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Utex Row. Widzew managed to win third quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American guard Laurie Koehn (173-82, college: Kansas St.) who led her team to a victory with 39 points (!!!). Her fellow American import guard Rebecca Harris (176-86, college: Illinois) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Power forward Joanna Gorzynska-Szymczak (185-82) answered with 15 points and the former international forward Katarzyna Kenig (185-79) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Widzew. Utex Row maintains eleventh place with 4-16 record. Widzew lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Utex Row are looking forward to face higher ranked Energa Torun (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Widzew will play against Artego (#7) in Bydgoszcz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
