Regular Season Round 12: GSAU Tbilisi - Sokhumi 64-84

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#6) and GSAU (#10). GSAU was smashed at home by 20 points 64-84 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Sokhumi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Sokhumi outrebounded GSAU 47-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by GSAU's players. It was a good game for American forward Richard Damus (198-83, college: Troy) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Lasha Parghalava (191-87, college: Montana St. - Billin) contributed with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Sokhumi players scored in double figures. Guard George Khaniashvili (194-89) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Revaz Chachanidze (183-90) added 18 points in the effort for GSAU. Sokhumi (8-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with TSU Tbilisi. GSAU lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi TSU.
