Regular Season Round 12: TSU Tbilisi - GTU Tbilisi 93-86

Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Tbilisi: TSU (#5) and GTU (#9). TSU (8-4) won against visiting GTU (3-9) 93-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of GTU. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But GTU won third quarter 26-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TSU forced 23 GTU turnovers. GTU was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Richard Matiashvili (209-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) who added 26 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Beqa Chikviladze (195-91) with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Vasili Beruashvili (198-90) scored 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 9 steals. GTU's coach let to play twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. TSU moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sokhumi. Loser GTU keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. TSU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Sokhumi.
