Regular Season Round 16: Ikaros - Marousi 77-81

Very expected game in Kalitheas where 10th ranked Ikaros (7-9) was defeated by third ranked Marousi (10-6) 81-77 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Nestor Kommatos (203-77) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds and Croatian center Dalibor Bagaric (217-80) who added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks during the contest. Four Marousi players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Deon Thompson (203-88, college: N.Carolina) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Kyle McAlarney (183-87, college: Notre Dame) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Ikaros' coach Aris Likogiannis tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Marousi maintains third position with 10-6 record having six points less than leader Olympiakos. Newly promoted Ikaros dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. Marousi will face Kavala (#5) at home in the next round. Ikaros will play against the league's leader Olympiakos in Athens.
