No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Base Oostende (8-8) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Optima Gent (2-14) 66-59 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-12. But Optima Gent won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Optima Gent helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Darrel Mitchell (180-84, college: LSU, agency: Beo Basket) who scored 21 points and 4 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Ben Ebong (202-76, college: Davidson) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was French forward Luc Louves (207-89, agency: Court Side) who recorded 11 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman Mike Rose (193-87, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Court Side) added 15 points respectively. Base Oostende moved-up to fourth place. Optima Gent lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Base Oostende are looking forward to face Leuven Bears (#8) at home in the next round. Optima Gent will play against the league's second-placed Spirou Charleroi and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
