Eighth-ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (8-21) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Oita Heat Devils (14-17). Oita Heat Devils managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-16. But Miyazaki Shining Suns won second period 15-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Miyazaki Shining Suns used huge pressure winning it 29-25 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 4-6. Oita Heat Devils dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Miyazaki Shining Suns' 38. They outrebounded Miyazaki Shining Suns 48-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. Oita Heat Devils players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American forward Damian Johnson (201-87, college: Minnesota, agency: Edge Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import forward Taj Finger (203-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American forward Brandon Cole (203-84, college: Xavier, agency: Global Sports Plaza) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Miyazaki Shining Suns. Four Oita Heat Devils and five Miyazaki Shining Suns players scored in double figures. Oita Heat Devils maintains sixth position with 14-17 record. Miyazaki Shining Suns at the other side keep the eighth place with 21 games lost. They share the position with Takamatsu FA. Oita Heat Devils will again play against Miyazaki Shining Suns (#9) at home in the next round. Miyazaki Shining Suns will have a break next round.
