Regular Season Round 30: Fukuoka Rizing - Osaka Evessa 65-61

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Osaka Evessa (18-11) against fourth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (18-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Osaka Evessa was defeated by Fukuoka Rizing in a tough game in Fukuoka 61-65. It looked good early as Osaka Evessa took an 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fukuoka Rizing took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. They also forced 23 Osaka Evessa turnovers. Strangely Osaka Evessa outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 43-30 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The game was also dominated by American players. Swingman Michael Parker (200-81, college: Evergreen St.) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Jartavious Henderson (203-87, college: Memphis) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Fukuoka Rizing's coach Tadaharu Ogawa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) did not help to save the game for Osaka Evessa. Forward Lawrence Blackledge (203-86, college: Marquette) added 11 points and 15 rebounds. Fukuoka Rizing have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Osaka Evessa at the other side keeps the second position with 11 games lost. Fukuoka Rizing's next round opponent will be again league's second-placed Osaka Evessa at home and it will be for sure the game of the week.
