Regular Season Round 20: Real Madrid - Gescrap BB 76-72
Date: February 5, 2011
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Real Madrid (17-3) beat at home 8th ranked Bizkaia Bilbao (11-9) 76-72 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Bizkaia Bilbao won second period 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Madrid made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Italian-Argentinian guard Pablo Prigioni (191-77) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Carlos Suarez (202-86, agency: Court Side) contributed with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Aaron Jackson (193-86, college: Duquesne) replied with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Greek swingman Costas Vasiliadis (200-84, agency: FCM) added 16 points in the effort for Bizkaia Bilbao. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Real Madrid have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Regal Barca. Loser Bizkaia Bilbao dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. Real Madrid will face Power Electronics Valencia (#5) on the road in the next round. Bizkaia Bilbao will play against Blancos de Rueda in Valladolid.
