Regular Season Round 14: Athinaikos - PAOK 83-43

A1 top team - Athinaikos (14-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked PAOK (5-9) in Athens 83-43. The game without a history. Athinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to PAOK's 28. Athinaikos forced 23 PAOK turnovers and outrebounded them 38-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by PAOK's players. The former international guard Lolita Lymoura (180-85, agency: LBM Management) notched 13 points and 9 assists to lead the effort and Belarusian center Marina Kress (192-80) supported her with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Athinaikos' coach Ioannis Ktistakis felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 8 points by American guard Porchia Green (175-87, college: Ball St.) did not help to save the game for PAOK. Guard Efi Kazantzidou (177-84) added 9 points for the guests. Athinaikos have an impressive 14-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-0 record. Newly promoted PAOK keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Athinaikos will play against league's second-placed Esperides in Glyfada in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PAOK will play at home against Proteas (#10) in Voula and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
