Regular Season Round 17: Wildcats - Blaze 75-78

The most exciting game of round 17 in the NBL took place in Perth. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Perth Wildcats (12-8) to seventh ranked Gold Coast Blaze (9-11) 78-75 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Perth Wildcats won fourth quarter 19-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ira Clark (203-75, college: Texas) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. International guard Damian Martin (188-84, college: Loyola Marymount) produced 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Kevin Lisch (188, college: St.Louis, agency: Warren Sports International) added 17 points respectively for the hosts. Gold Coast Blaze moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Hawks. Perth Wildcats lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keep the second position with eight games lost. Gold Coast Blaze is looking forward to face Adelaide 36ers (#7) in Findon in the next round. Perth Wildcats will play on the road against Wollongong Hawks (#5) in Gwynneville and are hoping to win this game.
