Regular Season Round 18: Baerum Basket - Kristiansand 105-98

Date: February 6, 2011
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Kristiansand (4-12) lost to fourth ranked Baerum (10-7) in Bekkestua 98-105 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-14. But Kristiansand won second period 26-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kristiansand 30-15 including 20 on the defensive glass. American power forward Donald Oatis (206-79, college: Wilberforce, agency: Prossin Sports Management) notched a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Nils-Paul Skara (185-87, college: William & Mary) supported him with 29 points. Even 29 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Antonio Russell (183-84, college: W.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Kristiansand. Swingman Brian Mariampillar (188-85) added 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Baerum have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-7 record. Kristiansand lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Gimle. Baerum will meet league's leader Asker on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kristiansand will play against Ulriken (#3) in Bergen and hope to secure a win.
