Regular Season Round 28: Panasonic T. - Hokkaido L. 75-70
Date: February 6, 2011
Very predictable result in Osaka where second ranked Panasonic Trians (19-9) defeated bottom-ranked Hokkaido (8-20) 75-70. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Hokkaido won second period 15-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by the former international center Fumihiko Aono (210-78) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) supported him with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Jai Lewis (201-83, college: George Mason, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) did not help to save the game for Hokkaido. The former international guard Takehiko Orimo (190-70) added 14 points for lost side. Five Hokkaido players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Panasonic Trians maintains second position with 19-9 record having just two points less than leader Aishin. Hokkaido lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 20 games lost. Panasonic Trians will play against league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hokkaido will play at home against Toyota Alvark (#3) in Fuchu and hopes to get back on the winning track.
