Regular Season Round 31: Saitama Bron. - Toyama Grouses 83-78

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Toyama Grouses (9-19) lost on the road to fifth ranked Saitama Broncos (12-18) 83-78 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Toyama Grouses won third quarter 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Toyama Grouses outrebounded Saitama Broncos 47-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American guard Kenny Satterfield (188-81, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!), 6 assists and 4 steals. Guard Yuki Kitamuki (184-85) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Saitama Broncos' coach Bob Nash used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Brian Harper (208-85, college: Paine) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and guard Takeshi Mito (184-85) added 19 points and 4 steals in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Saitama Broncos maintains fifth place with 12-18 record, which they share with Shimane. Loser Toyama Grouses keep the seventh position with 19 games lost. Saitama Broncos will face higher ranked Okinawa GK (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyama Grouses will play against Fukuoka Rizing (#4).
