One of their biggest challengers CS Bologna (9-9) fell to fifth ranked Air Avellino (10-8) in overtime by four points 101-105 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 30-24 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-12. Air Avellino made 26-of-27 free shots (96.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 CS Bologna turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by CS Bologna helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Polish center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds. American-FYR Macedonian guard Marques Green (170-82, college: St.Bonaventure) contributed with 28 points and 9 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. Georgian forward Viktor Sanikidze (203-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American swingman K.C. Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson, agency: Lanshire Group) added 25 points and 4 steals in the effort for CS Bologna. Four CS Bologna players scored in double figures. Air Avellino have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. CS Bologna at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Fabi Shoes and Scavolini PS. Air Avellino are looking forward to face Lottomatica Roma (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. CS Bologna will play against Scavolini Pesaro (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
