Regular Season Round 28: Aishin SH - Toyota Alvark 51-62

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (21-7) in Kariya on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Toyota Alvark (18-10) 62-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 39-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: Cal.St. Northridge) who added 7 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (205-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) scored 12 points and 5 assists. Toyota Alvark maintains third position with 18-10 record having just three points less than leader Aishin. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top place with seven games lost. Toyota Alvark are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Hokkaido (#8) in Saporro in the next round where they are favorite. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against the league's second-placed Panasonic Trians (#2) in Osaka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
